July Book Club Sparks Thought-Provoking Discussion with The Weekend

Our Book Club met again on Monday 13th July for another enjoyable evening of reading, conversation, and shared perspectives. This month’s featured book was The Weekend. While reviews of the book among our members were very mixed, it certainly succeeded in creating one of our most engaging discussions to date.

The story presented a number of challenging moral dilemmas, prompting members to consider the question: “What would you have done?” As different viewpoints were shared around the room, it became clear that there were no easy answers. The conversation highlighted how personal experiences, values, and beliefs can shape the decisions we make when faced with difficult situations.

What made this month’s meeting particularly memorable was that the discussion didn’t end when everyone went home. Many members found themselves continuing the conversation with family and friends, exploring the same ethical questions and comparing opinions. It was a reminder of the power of a good book to encourage reflection long after the final page has been turned.

As always, the evening was filled with lively debate, thoughtful insights, plenty of laughter, delicious food and drinks making it another successful Book Club gathering. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for our next meeting and discovering where our next book will take us.

If you’d like to join us, next month’s book is Home Before Dark by Eva Björg Ægisdóttir.
