On Monday 14th July, two groups of members headed back to the River Thames for another fantastic stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) session with our wonderful instructor, Maxine. With both an afternoon and an evening session available, even more members had the opportunity to experience the fun, challenge and tranquillity of paddle boarding.
As with our previous session, participants began with a land-based introduction covering the basics of paddle boarding, including equipment, paddle adjustment, paddling techniques and safety. Maxine’s clear instruction and calm encouragement helped everyone feel confident before taking to the water, whether they were stepping onto a board for the very first time or building on skills they had already learnt.
The conditions couldn’t have been better, with calm water and beautiful summer weather providing the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience. Once on the river, members paddled at their own pace, enjoying the peaceful surroundings while growing in confidence throughout the session. For many, standing up on the board for the first time was a real achievement, while the afternoon group even had the chance to try some SUP Yoga, adding an extra element of fun and balance to the day.
A huge thank you once again to Maxine for delivering another two outstanding sessions with such enthusiasm, patience and encouragement. It is wonderful to see so many members discovering a new activity, building confidence, supporting one another and, judging by the feedback, already looking forward to getting back on the water again.
We can’t wait for the next paddle boarding adventure!
